The World's Fair December 15th, 2017 - In This Week

Historic fair returns to Aberystwyth

The first of the November fairs in Aberystwyth took place on November 13, with Vernon Studt again acting as lessee. The fair has its roots as a hiring fair and is held on three successive Mondays accompanied by a street market, as well as opening on the two intermediate Saturday evenings. As it was last year, the opening ceremony was held on Alan Jenkin’s Dodgems.

Adrian Jones account is on page 5.

Big Kid’s all new circus show

The last time I reviewed a tenting show programme presented by the Big Kid Circus was way back in 2013 when the show appeared in Barnsley. Although I generally see the show at least once per season, usually somewhere in South Yorkshire during the backend run, this year some four years later I found myself back in Barnsley and on the same circus ground, in order to review yet another edition of the show.

Andrew Lewis' review is on page 18.

Anglia anniversary celebrated at Powderham Rally

Its a little known fact – except for those in the know – but 2017 saw an important milestone in Ford Anglia history. The Anglia name itself had been used by Ford since 1939, but here we are looking at the 105E, the final vehicle on which the name was used. It was 50 years ago, back in 1967, that the last of these rolled off the production line. A rather tenuous anniversary, I agree, but one which the Ford Anglia Owners Club chose to celebrate at the Powderham Rally.

Charlie Elston's report is on page 22.
