Vortex debuts at racecourse fair

funfair

There were several newcomers and a brand new ride for the public to enjoy at Northampton Racecourse when a larger than usual May Fair took place from April 28 to May 14. Lessees John Scarrott & Sons had plenty of notices out advertising the £1 ticket on all rides throughout the stay, and the weekends saw very good attendances here. There was certainly a good atmosphere around the fair on the occasions we visited, with the weather mostly decent despite a few cold evenings.

David Springthorpe’s account is on page 8.

Circus

Mooky and Mr Boo’s Tower Circus Spectacular

Circus

This year on May 14 Blackpool Tower and Circus celebrated its 123rd anniversary, and throughout much of that period it has been the Tower Circus and the quality of its programmes that has kept the Blackpool Tower complex in people’s minds. Today the Circus is perhaps the main family attraction within the building, more so now than on some occasions in the past, when the building contained many family orientated attractions.

Andrew Lewis’s review is on page 24.

Preservation

Best ever Taunton Bus Running Day

pres

Its been taking place for the last five years, but this year’s Taunton Bus Running Day has been hailed as the best ever. That was the general consensus of opinion anyway.

Charlie Elston’s report is on page 31.
