Extended holiday success for Guild’s London Section at Blackheath

The London Section of the Showmen’s Guild presented one of their most important fairs at Blackheath in South London. The bank holiday fairs here in South London have been in transition since their resumption following the Olympics of 2012.

Desmond FitzGerald’s account is on page 8.

One of the best from Zippos Circus

Martin Burton and his Zippos Circus made their customary summer visit to Sheffield in South Yorkshire, playing the pleasant leafy Endcliffe Park from August 10 to 14. The outward appearance of the show, although looking unchanged from over the past season or two, was incredibly smart; the transport was extremely clean and tidy and at least one unit was repainted whilst the show was at Sheffield.

Andrew Lewis’ review is on page 24.

Lincs steam rally among the best

If they ever do a Top 10 of British steam and preservation events, then the Lincolnshire Steam and Vintage Rally will be right there among the best of them. But its popularity among enthusiasts and the general public has not happened overnight. When the rally first opened at the County Showground just outside Lincoln in the summer of 1986, there were something like 250 exhibits occupying just a part of the vast site.

Peter Brown’s report is on page 31.
