Showmen organise Bridgwater golf day in tribute to late Midlands Showman.
Jorden Crole and Maxi Smart organised a memorial golf tournament to honour their good friend Fred Loveridge, who sadly passed away in August. It was held at Enmore Park Golf Club near Bridgwater on Tuesday, 23 September, a bright, sunny day.
Freddie was a popular Midlands Showman who, with wife Lilian and family, travelled immaculately presented round stalls right across the north and south of England and Wales. For decades, he had positions at Bridgwater.
Not all those who attended the day were open at Bridgwater; many friends had travelled from across the country – a testimony, if one were needed, to the esteem in which Freddie was held.
After a long day on the course, Jorden and Maxi had arranged buffet refreshments. Jorden thanked everyone for supporting the event, and he, along with Maxi and Fred’s widow, Lilian, presented the medals.
Medal winners were 1st place, John Lock; 2nd place, Jason Danter; and 3rd place, Wesley Herbert.
Additional awards: Nearest putt John Lock, Matthew Jones, and Tommy Cooper. The longest drive went to Joe Stokes and William Day. The Wooden Spoon went to Matthew Lewis, who received his medal in good humour.
