Holiday spirit at Ashby fair

Funfair

Summer holidays started early for thousands of children in and around Scunthorpe. Although the schools hadn’t quite broken up at the end of another academic year, there was plenty of holiday spirit around as showmen arrived on the excellent surface of the Everest Road Playing Field at Ashby. On the opening night temperatures were in their mid 20s as the fair got under way at 5pm, and the weather forecast for the weekend was optimistic.

Peter Brown’s account is on page 9.

As an added evening entertainment at Wookey Hole resort in Somerset, Gerry Cottle has produced a brand new show of magic and illusion called ‘Hocus Pocus’ for the months of July and August.

Classics gather at Dart’s Farm

It’s incredibly frustrating. Picture the scene: you are on the rally field, and you see a vehicle in the distance that you know you haven’t seen before. Thinking it will make a good addition to the report you make your may towards it. Having taken a couple of pictures you then look for some information . . . only to find none.

Charlie Elston’s report is on page 31.
