The General Secretary of The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain, Joe Mercer, has left the Showmen’s Guild, effective as of the start of this week (4th January 2021), to take up a position in the City of London.
The President, Senior & Junior Vice Presidents, and National Treasurer wish to thank Joe for his work over the last two and three-quarter years, at the helm of the Guild in Central Office during a time of change; in implementing governance procedures internally and developing the Guild’s status with outside bodies; leading into the critical time of the past nine months, in shaping the Guild’s response to the pandemic, along with Officials; Management and Central Office team. We wish him well in his new venture.
The Officials, Management and Central Office team are continuing their response to the pandemic in both advice and in seeking funding opportunities for Members; alongside the work with ADIPS, HSE and local, regional & national government, to assist Members to get open with fairs whenever it becomes possible to do so.
A decision on any further appointment to the Central Office Team will be taken in the spring.
